Attorney Victor Rivera, Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law and US Army veteran, is one of a handful of military divorce experts in Collin and Denton counties. This focused expertise makes him a particularly suited to handle matters with complicated federal retirement and benefit issues.
In addition to his experience helping military families navigate the unique intricacies of their family law matters, Attorney Rivera has extensive experience in resolving both civil and criminal matters. His exceptional negotiation skills combined with his tenacity for protecting and promoting the interests and rights of families in need allow him to uphold an unparalleled standard of collaboration in mediation and arbitration.
Attorney Rivera is a member of the State Bar of Texas, as well as the College of the State Bar of Texas. He has also been recognized as a Rising Star in Family Law five times. As a proven leader in the legal community, he is a past president of the Denton County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and has also served in leadership roles for both the Denton County Bar Association and the Denton County Family Lawyers section.

Attorney Rivera first earned his BAAS from Midwestern State University in Criminal Justice and Political Science. His dedication to helping people and managing businesses to success spurned him to earn his MBA from Texas Tech University, where he also obtained his JD. Over the course of his career, Attorney Rivera has not stopped furthering his education and is in pursuit of a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management at Tarleton State University, where he holds a 4.0 grade average.
Prior to going to law school, Attorney Rivera spent his early career as a tactical police officer in Fort Worth. After earning his JD and MBA, he began practicing family law and criminal defense while serving as an adjunct professor in Business Law at West Texas A&M University. Over the years, Attorney Rivera was privileged to serve as a Municipal Court Judge in Flower Mound, Texas, serving over 65,000 citizens, leading bench and jury trials. Attorney Rivera’s commitment and passion for law enforcement spurned him to work as an instructor and program attorney for Texas Law Shield LLP in Dallas, serving as an on-call attorney for police officers who must use deadly force in the line of duty. He continues this noble work to this day.
Concurrently, Attorney Rivera became the COO and managing attorney of a local law group where he directed a legal team in any and all family law matters, as well as criminal defense cases involving DWI, narcotics, theft, assault, robbery, and so much more.
