With our collective experience as a full team of attorneys and support staff, Coker, Robb & Cannon, Family Lawyers is ready to help you with a variety of case types. If you have any sort of legal situation that involves your family or family life, you can bring it to us for counsel and representation if it moves to the courtroom for any reason.

The main case types that we handle for clients in Lewisville are:

  • Divorce: If you want to end your marriage or need to respond to divorce papers, you can depend on us to guide you with professionalism and genuine compassion. After all, you’re not just a client, you’re also a friend in our community.
  • Child custody: We know what Lewisville and Denton County courthouses want to see in a child custody agreement to uphold a child’s best interests. When working on your child custody agreement, start by getting our help.
  • Spousal support: Do you need to pay spousal support? Do you need to receive spousal support to stay financially afloat? In either situation, you can depend on our counsel to be fair and effective.
  • Property division: Property division – as well as debt division – needs to be handled carefully. Under Texas divorce law, it also needs to be handled equitably, which does not necessarily mean equally. We are here to support your property division goals.
  • Estate law: You can bring your estate law case to our law firm, too. Our team is equipped to handle questions and cases involving wills, trusts, estate administration, and more.

This list of case types is not fully comprehensive, though. Essentially any matter related to family law is in our wheelhouse. If you don’t see the type of case that you have, don’t worry – call (940) 293-2313 to see how we can help.

Legal Counsel at Every Step

Entering into a legal contest or starting a case can be intimidating. If you are guided by a trustworthy team of attorneys, though, getting to the conclusion you want can be less stressful than you expected. Our Lewisville attorneys are on a mission to help as many locals as possible get through their family law, divorce, and estate law cases without worrying about the details.

We are here to help know what to expect with your case from start to finish, such as:

  • Exploring your options: Every legal case from family law to estate law will have multiple options to get to a resolution. To begin, you should know more about which options you have by sitting down with our lawyers.
  • Anticipating responses: If the legal steps you are taking involve an “opposing side,” like a spouse in a divorce, they will make responses to each of your actions. With our representation, you can let us handle those responses on your behalf.
  • Collecting evidence: For cases that need evidence to prove an argument, our attorneys are highly experienced in looking for important documentation, statements, and so on to use as proof or evidence.
  • Entering negotiations: Your case may go to negotiations or mediation, depending on what needs to be done. For example, many family law judges will require divorcing spouses to enter mediation before allowing the case to go to trial.
  • Going to court: If your case does go to trial before a judge and/or jury, we’ll be ready. We have the insight, resources, and experience required to confidently handle any trial case for our clients.

I will never be able to put into words how Thankful I am for my Attorney Malorie Crosley and Paralegal Toya Brown. They have been there for me every step of the way during this difficult time. Whenever I had a question they ALWAYS responded in a timely matter. If you are looking for a professional team of ladies to have your back look no further! “Thank you Shelby & Rachel!”

When I first contacted this firm, I was unsure. I was unsure on many things. I had a set of unique circumstances where I needed to seek a change for the safety of my son but due to something that is somewhat new territory. Shelby was upfront w/ me about both the positive & the negative possible outcomes but let me tell you – Shelby (and Rachel) fought for us.

There was NOT one moment in time that I felt ignored, dismissed or unimportant; Moreover, I have severe, high anxiety & rather than punish me for it, Shelby & Rachel were understanding, comforting, logical & proactive EVERY STEP of the way. It was like I showed up, threw everything I had on a table while being a sobbing mess – they looked at every piece, held my hand & told me it would be okay. The entire system is long & draining but when we got to our trial date, Shelby was ON FIRE. My faith in him never waivered but that day in court, when we were finally through, I could’ve flown. Shelby (of course w/ the help of his right hand, Rachel!) was absolutely in his element & he stood up for us in all the ways my spirit needed to protect my son. I have shed more tears than I will EVER admit during the entire process but even during my madness, Shelby & Rachel were kind, uplifting & our WARRIORS in the courtroom.

When I did my phone set up for a consultation, I told them I needed someone aggressive. When you first talk with them, they are so sweet! You’ll think: okay, these are not aggressive or mean people – BUT when the time comes, you can bet your bottom dollar they GO TO WORK. I cannot thank Shelby & Rachel enough for the things they’ve helped my son & I with. They have kept my son SAFE!!!! There aren’t enough descriptive words in our vocabulary to accurately portray what they mean to me. If you want a damn good team – YOU WANT THEM. Thank you Shelby & Rachel! Dax & I love yall!!

    - Megan H.
“Handled My Divorce Quickly and with Ease”
Mr. Pax did an excellent job with my divorce from the consult to final disposition. He made the process easier than I expected, since I was moving during the divorce process. He always had time to answer questions and set appropriate expectations. He and the staff worked around my sometimes odd schedule to get things done. I found everyone I interacted with to be friendly, professional and courteous. I would recommend them to anyone else needing a divorce attorney.
    - Patricia
“Shelby, Ashley, and I won the case”
I was more than taken care of by this law firm. My attorney Shelby Hart believed in my case since day one. My situation was far from easy, I was trying to move out of state with my son to start a family with my husband. His father wanted to restrict me to the county I currently lived it. I was turned away by another attorney because she said there was no way I had a chance. But when I called Shelby he was nothing but uplifting, positive, and honest about the risk and chances but was reassuring of my chance and possibilities. He never gave up and found all kinds of ways to make this happen for me. He was always keeping me informed and allowed me to make any and all final decisions. Ashley Leverett, his parallel was always so helpful and on top of everything. She was also very sympathetic with me and gave good advice as well has helped me along the way with getting all my documents together. Even down to billing and payments, Georgia was always pleasant to work with on arranging and making my payments as well as answering any questions I had. Shelby, Ashley, and I won the case and I am completely moved in with my husband, son and newest member on the way! We are so happy and grateful for all the help we got at Coker!
    - Piper S.
    “Great representation”
This firm is rock solid. They give you swift and clear advice and react appropriately and professionally to all the ups and downs throughout the tough process. Ashley Covert and her paralegal Ashley Leverett handled my divorce and they did a wonderful job.
    - Jamie
    “Best Lawyer!!”
“I would definitely recommend Jackie, Holly and Lauren.”
    - Marium

Frequently Asked Questions

More Questions? Consult an Attorney at Coker, Robb & Cannon, Family Lawyers!
  • What should I avoid saying on social media during my case?

During some cases, like most divorces, social media is not your friend. Oversharing your private life with the public can create unintended complications. For example, if you want sole child custody, posting videos of you going to a bar every night with your friends might not look great to the family law judge. When in doubt, stay off social media altogether while you have a pending legal case.

  • What is the typical timeline for resolving a case like mine?

Many types of legal cases are resolved in a few months or just under a year. However, complicated or contested cases often take more than a year. Our attorneys can give you an estimate of how long your case might take, but it’s impossible to make a guarantee.

  • What should I expect when going to court in Denton County, Texas?

When you go to court in Denton County, you should expect to follow a lot of courtroom procedure rules and hear plenty of legal back-and-forth between the attorneys. We would be happy to prepare you for what you can expect in your court case. For example, if your case goes to the Denton County Courts Building on McKinney Street, we can tell you how to dress and act because we are highly familiar with the expectations set by that courthouse and the legal professionals who work there.

  • How will you keep me informed about my case?

We like to converse with our clients whenever there is an important legal update. Depending on your preferences, we can email, call, or even text you. Of course, you’re also free to contact us whenever you want to talk to a member of our team. We know that legal cases can be stressful, but frequent updates can help lower that stress.

  • How do consultations with your firm work?

During a consultation, we usually review the basic information about a client’s case to see if legal action can be taken to reach their goals. If so, we then determine if our team is the right fit for the case. At that point, we can discuss the initial steps that will be necessary to officially start your case.

  • What are the advantages of hiring a local Lewisville lawyer?

By hiring a lawyer who is local to Lewisville, you get the benefit of working with someone who knows the area, the courts, and the legal professionals who work at those courts. Familiarity can go a long way when it comes to pursuing the family law, divorce, or estate law outcome that you want.
